The EB is 7 weeks old today. She has started smiling - though smiles are still rare and fleeting. But yay! When you talk to her, she will sometimes talk back with lots of babble - not set sounds yet, but lots of vowels and noises. And if you put your finger into her palm, she can sometimes bring it to her mouth to suck on it - so she realizes that these hand things can be used to manipulate other objects, which is sort of cool.

My mom offered to babysit last night, so we were racking our brains to come up with something to do. There wasn't much going on here last night unfortunately, but we still had a very nice time. We ended up going to the mall, of all places - I got a pair of shorts and galagan went nuts and got tons of stuff: socks and underwear and T-shirts.... It was a much needed shopping expedition. Then we went for Asian food - we had crab rangoon and spicy tuna rolls, then I had pork lo mein, and he had shrimp tempura. Very yummy and satisfying.

It's so cool to watch an infant discover new things. Watching babies, to me, is amazing, because it brings home just how much we have to learn to become more or less functional and independent human beings.
