The Well of Loneliness, by Radclyffe Hall - This is a classic of lesbian literature, which I remember hearing about in Women's Studies classes way back when. I recently saw a mention of it, and thought, Hey I love 20s fiction, I should try that! Hmmmm - I'm really glad I read it, but it was a little slow. Some of the tropes she sets up are a bit outdated (the mannish lesbian who wishes she was really a boy, for example), but some of it was stunning. The opening chapters seemed just like a brilliant depiction of a born outsider being raised in a conformist conservative culture. And the coming out scenes - through her betrayal by someone she loves - were heartbreaking. The end was very sad, too.

Bone Volume 2: The Great Cow Race, by Jeff Smith - Reading this for fun, in between longer books. This made a good break after Loneliness. I'm enjoying it, but I don't have much to say about it yet.

Ombria in Shadow, by Patricia McKillip - OMG. This is a stunning gorgeous fabulous book. McKillip uses such beautiful visual imagery - I have so many mental pictures from this book! The ending was a little weak, but I can just rewrite that in my head with what *I* want, and the rest of the book was gorgeous enough to make up for it. Really.
