She isn't original, but it's cute

Elena was really resisting taking a nap this afternoon, and at one point, she started crying again a bit. I went upstairs and found that not only had she thrown everything out of her crib onto the floor (very standard - used to be a daily event around here), but she had also taken off all her clothes and was just standing there wearing a diaper. Totally cracked me up. I dumped everything back in the crib, pulled her T-shirt over her head and left again. She's quiet, but I don't think she's asleep..... *sigh* I really want her to keep napping - I'm not ready for her to give it up. (I don't think she is either, but don't think I can convince her of that point.)




She wouldn't let me draw whiskers on her face, so I did them on my face as illustration. She still won't let me, even though she seems very *taken* with mine. Almost every time she's looked at me today she says "You have whiskers." I totally confused one of her playmates at playgroup too. :)

Meanwhile, I'm in my usual frenzy of housecleaning the day before I have houseguests. Laundry, sweeping, picking up junk off the floors..... (My dad's coming for a few days.) This is good, though - I need incentive to tidy up, apparently.

Right there with you! It just seems so pointless unless someone's going to see it besides us- and I know why I do it too- the only time my mom ever made me clean my room was when company was coming over :)

And Sarah? Already knows how to clean by shoving things under her bed. I swear I didn't teach her- it must be genetic :)

The way she continues to eat the bread during the picture makes me think of Miriam: kids' priorities are different than grownups' priorities....

Yes - I wanted a picture of the two of us before nap, when her hair gets all messy (and then she won't let me fix it....). So I just took it while she slooowwwwwly ate her lunch.

You and Miriam holding up okay? She hasn't been keeping you up at all hours too much?

Well, of course she has been keeping me up all hours. :) That's what she does. Although I was surprised: I fed her at 1am this morning, but she didn't eat much and when she cried again I was sure it was only an hour later, but when my eyes cleared I saw it was 5. Not great, but I'll take it. :) She did not want to sleep in her crib, though, so after the first wake-up I tended to leave her on the bed with the bottle sitting next to her, doze off for an hour or two, and then feed her again.

I hope it gets easier with practice, for Jen's sake. :) I have it SO easy when she's here. This was probably a good experience for me, because it gives me a better appreciation for how hard it is, and I won't be so quick to grumble when she wants me to get up and change her.

But Mummy's coming home tonight, huzzah! Daddy's going to hand Miriam over to her and go right to bed, I think. :)

Every time I go through the whirlwind of cleaning for guests I vow to never let it get so bad again. Somehow it always gets that bad again...

Cassie loved having her own whiskers applied. But then, she keeps asking me for makeup when I'm putting on mine in the morning getting ready for work...
