So, we've been house-hunting, and kicked it up into a higher gear these past few weeks. Yesterday, we went and took a second look at two places. I think we have a favorite - just a few blocks from our current rental abode. I think we're going to start *doing* things, like mortgage-y, offer-y, buying-y things. Eeeep.
That's far too scary and tentative to think about now, though. Must distract myself.
She's soooooo big. She has opinions, and occasionally states them. She basically knows her numbers, and will count along pretty readily (vun, too, foh, foh, esss, sit, sen, mmm, nun, ten, eh-ven, telv). S is one of her favorite letters, and she has it mixed up with 5. Completely understandably. She knows probably half the alphabet, some big and small letters. Her vocabulary is definitely increasing, mostly nouns (plus up and down). She also repeats our words pretty readily - we showed her snow falling the other day, and told her Snow. "Soh." The next day, she still remembered the word. I thought of trying to train her to say Grandma and Grandpa by next week (when we go there), because they would be thrilled beyond measure.
She's starting to do hand motions with songs. She likes the Itsy-Bitsy Spider, and does about half the motions to that. She also likes the hokey-pokey - she used to mostly do the turning around part, but now she seems to understand about "put your arm in, put your arm out" and acts accordingly. Those, plus the damn Wheels on the Bus, are her current favorites.
We go to a library story hour and our playgroup, and she loves those. (Both involve a decent amount of singing.) I just found out about these toddler music classes starting in the area, so I need to look into those. And she's had a couple of playdates. 6 months ago, I was worried that she was poorly socialized, but we've really made an effort to overcome that, and she's come a long way.
Her hair reaches halfway down her back, right between the shoulder blades, but only when it's sopping wet. Dry, it waves and curls to just around her shoulders. There is still tons of it. Sadly, it isn't very red anymore - mostly dark blond / light brown, like mine was as a child. She refuses to let me put it up most of the time. She has that typical toddler build (and toddler pot-belly), but she was never pudgy.
She is such a happy kid too. 90% of the time, she has a smile, and is pleased with her world. The rest of the time, well - she's had a rough week this week, because a molar is coming in, and she has a bit of a cold.
Except when something's wrong (and she goes all out and throws a big fit), she is an utter delight.

Date: 2006-12-11 06:02 pm (UTC)She will take 5 minutes to get to know you, and then accept any spoiling or doting you have to offer. (When you see her, she will have just returned from Grandma's doting, so she'll be primed.)

Date: 2006-12-10 10:10 pm (UTC)Hunter's still too little to remember any set dance routine, but he does this little dancy thing with his fists when there's music playing that I love. Plus, when I light Shabbat candles Friday night he gets all excited and covers his mouth instead of his eyes.
I really need to make a new kid icon. Maybe after

Looks like proto-Semitic to me. :) ("Early peoples used the same word for 3 and 4, although scholars believed there may have been a difference in pronunciation. Also interesting is the use of 'mmm' for 8, which has no modern cognates.")
