That's how I think of this variety of selfishness, too--it's a signal that you need to stop and take time out for yourself. I feel like I'm always taking care of somebody these days, whether it's the baby, the dog, or my husband, and when I do stop to read a book, I feel guilty that I'm not doing laundry, cooking, or some other household chore. We need another term besides selfishness.
